President Visit

U THEIN SEIN, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar accompanies by Union Ministers, U MYINT SWE, Chief Minister of Yangon Region and Government Officials visited Thilawa Special Economic Zone, Kyauktan Township again on 9 October 2015.

During his visit, U SET AUNG, Chairman of Thilawa SEZ Management Committee (TSMC) and Vice Chairman of Central Bank of Myanmar, U WIN AUNG, Chairman of Myanmar Thilawa SEZ Holdings Public Limited (MTSH), U THEIN HAN, Chairman of Myanmar Japan Thilawa Development Ltd. (MJTD), Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Takashi Yanai made presentation on progress of construction.

President commented to finish construction works in time, to supply enough power and water into the project area, to construct roads systematically, to train and have sufficient labor and workers when factories in special economic zone start to operate. In his remark, he highlighted the importance and potential of the project. By developing the Special Economic Zone like Thilawa for the country, he stressed that the project would not only benefit the development in local region but would also benefit the country economically, as a whole and at the same time creating job opportunity for the whole region. The President also admonish that while developing the Special Economic Zone, to bear in mind, not just to focus on gain in kind alone but to provide the best service within the frame work of law to attract investors.
